PURPOSE:To obtain a high density recording head which is small in a record demagnetizing effect and also is capable of forming efficiently a magnetic field having a steep magnetic field incline, by constituting a magnetic path of a working gap of a soft magnetic film having a high saturated magnetic flux density, and exposing this film on the tape sliding surface. CONSTITUTION:Two core blocks are prepared by sticking ferrtie cores 17, 17' having high magnetic permeability, and nonmagnetic substances 20, 20' through adhering glass layers 24, 24'. This core block is stepped 25 for a soft magnetic film, soft magnetic films 18, 18' are formed by means of sputtering, and the spherical polishing work is executed so that the surface of the cores 17, 17' and the surface of the soft magnetic films 18, 18' can form the same surface.
