Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a titled flux which improves the electric conductivity of slag and by which the m.p. of the flux is maintained adequately by adding further MgF2 compositely with a flux contg. CaF2. CONSTITUTION:A flux consisting of 50-65% CaF2, 2-25% MgF2 where 52-75% in total of those mentioned above, 10-25% TiO2, 2-10% CaO, 2-10% MgO, 1-14% SiO2, 1-10% ZrO2, where 2-15% SiO2+ZrO2. The flux of the above- mentioned composition permits the use of not only steels but nickel alloys such as inconel for electrode materials and is adaptable to various kinds of build-up welding. Such flux makes welding workability good and allows the shallower penetration of weld metal.
