CONSTITUTION:Optical switches S1a and S1b, which have contacts (b) connected to up and down line input terminals 21 and 22 of a repeating device 2 and have movable pieces connected to up and down lines l12 and l32, and a fault searching line L1 connected between contacts (a) of these switches are provided. Meanwhile, an optical switch S2a which has the contact (b) conneted to a line l23 and has the movable piece connected to an up line output terminal 23, an optical switch S2b which has the contact (b) connected to a down line output terminal 24 and has the movable piece connected to a line l21, and a fault searching line L2 connected between contacts (a) of switches S2a and S2b are provided. Thus, movable pieces of swithces S1a, S1b, S2a, S2b which are connected to contacts (b) normally are connected to contacts (a) by different switch driving signals from a monitor station 1, thereby discriminating whether the fault exists in the repeating device or on lines rapidly.
