Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent image stains, toner discoloration, etc., by reversing polarities of photoreceptor charging, developing bias voltage, and transfer charging, each being same, in each of copying steps, and nevertheless setting polarity of toner charging to those of photoreceptor charging, etc.. CONSTITUTION:Power supply of 37 is connected to a charging device 26 to apply positive and negative voltage in succession by changing over the first switch 36. The first developing device 28 has a device for applying positive developing bias voltage with the first voltage source 38 and stores and toner particles 30a to be charged positively. Black toner particles 28a remaining are recovered with the first developing device 28, not affecting unfavorably a copied image using the red toner particles 30a. Even when the particles 28a are not all recovered with the first device 28, but left on a photosensitive drum 25, they are mixed with the particles 30a in the second developing device 30 and causes no discoloration.
