Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent electric charge, increase safety and improve the image characteristic of transferred images by applying antistatic working on the nontransfer surface of an intermediate transfer belt in a copying device which transfers toner images to a transfer material by way of the intermediate transfer belt. CONSTITUTION:The opposite side of the toner image carrying surface of an intermediate transfer belt 6 for the purpose of transferring the toner images on a charge holding body 1a and transferring the toner images on a transfer material is subjected to antistatic working. An intermediate transfer belt 6 is put on a transfer roller 7, a transfer and fixing roller 8, a tension roller 9 and a driving roller 10. The thickness of said antistatic layer is better as it becomes thinner, and its upper limit is determined by conductivity and mechanical strength; the preferable thickness is 0.5-20mu. The charging of the intermediate transfer belt is prevented by such antistatic layer, and this results in increased safety and improved image characteristic of the transferred images.
