As a result, the electric charge for transcribed field given from the roller 15 is prevented from scattering to an earthed body 32. While the resistance value of impedance 35 of a power source Eo that applies the bias voltage to the roller 31 is selected at a proper level lower than the resistance value of a resistance 34 which is applied to the body 32 at high humidity. Accordingly the roller 31 is set at a prescribed high level of bias potential although the current flows via the paper 12 at high humidity.
