Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the contaminant mass in air by abutting a shielding member for a corona discharging body on a body to be discharged with corona to isolate a corona discharge area from a toner existing area, and circulating the air in the corona discharge area through a circulating passage. CONSTITUTION:A shielding case 1 of a U shape in cross section of a corona discharger is of roughly the same length as that of a photoreceptor 2, and has a shielding member 2 abutting on the photoreceptor 2 at its both side opening edges. Openings 4, 5 are formed in both end parts in the bottom part of the case 1, and an air inflow passage 6 is connected to one opening 4 and an air outflow passage 7 to be other opening 5. Both passages 6, 7 are coupled by the containing case 9 of a fan 8 to form a circulating passage. A conductive filter 10, an ozone filter 11, and a dustproof filter 12 are provided to the passage 7, and a dustproof filter 14 is provided to an air intake passage 13.
