Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a desired melt-stuck state over the entire length by forming an intermediate layer mixing with the 2nd layer at low m.p. between the 1st layer and the 2nd layer in centrifugal casting of steel type double layer pipes.
CONSTITUTION: At the point of the time when the 1st layer of cast metal of steel type including alloy steels at well solidifies to about 80W100% thicknesses from the outside surface after casting of said 1st layer, intermediate layer cast metal of 1.3W 4.0% C, 1.0W3.0% Si, <3.5% Mn and the balance Fe is cast. This intermediate layer metal is lower in solidification temp. than the steel type cast metal of the 1st and 2nd layers, and does not degrade the properties of the fresh 2nd layer mixed with the 2nd layer. If the inside surface of the 1st layer in this casting is unsolidified, the mixed layers are formed, and if it is right after the completion of the solidification, both layers stick thoroughly by melting when the temp. thereof is above the m.p. of the intermediate layer metal. The 2nd layer is cast right after the completion of the casting of the intermediate layer. At this time, the intermediate layer is the partly solidified or virtually solidified layer, but when the 2nd layer of the solidifying temp. higher than this is cast, both layers mix, whereby the fresh 2nd layer melt-stuck thoroughly with the 1st layer is formed.
