Abstract

PURPOSE: To analyze minor constituents in a specimen in a short time with a high accuracy, by adding a luminous reagent capable of emitting light on reaction with a peroxidase to the specimen to emit the light.
CONSTITUTION: A luminous (light emitting) reagent consisting of luminol and hydrogen peroxide is added to a specimen containing a peroxidase to emit light, and the peroxidase is determined by the quantity of the emitted light. A vial 14 containing a sample prepared by adding the luminous (light emitting) reagent to the specimen is accommodated in a dark box 10, and a shutter 18 is closed to open a shutter 26. The light emitted in the vial 14 passes through a transparent plate 20 and enters a photomultiplier tube 24, and the resultant electric signals are counted by an amplifying and counting circuit 28 for a time set by a timer 32 and indicated in a display part 30.
