Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to obtain a speed information at the same output level, irrespective of a rotation speed, by a method wherein a rotary disc, having slits, turns in proportion to a speed of an object to be measured, and a light emitter and a light receiver are positioned facing oppositely to each other with the rotary disc therebetween. CONSTITUTION:A rotary disc 2, attached to a rotary shaft 1 turning in proportion to a speed of an axle, acting as an object to measured, has slits 2a-2n being formed on a circumference centering around the rotary shaft 1. A light emitter 3, provided with a luminous diode 301, is located at one surface side of the rotary disc, and a light receiver 5, equipped with a photodiode 502 is situated at the other surface side of the rotary disc 2. A light emitted from the light emitter 3 is intermittently received via the slits 2a-2n at a frequency proportional to a car speed by the light receiver 5, and an output pulse, proportional to the car speed, is obtained at output terminals 6a and 6b. This eliminates the need for a wave-form shaping circuit at the input side of a device for transmitting a speed information. While reducing the size of the detector for the number of rotations as well as lightening the weight thereof.
