Abstract
PURPOSE:To completely seal a lead battery, and make any water supply into the battery unnecessary by compulsorily supplying oxygen gas to the surfaces of the negative plates of the battery so as to make these surfaces to absorb oxygen gas. CONSTITUTION:A lead acid battery is constituted by installing an electrolyte 2, positive plates 3 and negative plates 4 in a container. A gas which contains oxygen gas is sprayed and supplied on the surface of the negative plate 4 from outside the battery through a supply pipe 6, thereby making oxygen gas to be absorbed by the plate 4 immersed in electrolyte. Consequently, complete sealing of the battery can be achieved by supplying a gas containing oxygen gas by means of a supply device 8 such as a compressor from outside the battery through a porous box 5, and by also supplying a gas which contains oxygen gas and exists in the space of the battery.
