Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the video signal level electrically, by controlling the potential read time of a transfer gate by the video signal level. CONSTITUTION:When the potential of a transfer electrode 14 becomes higher at a time t1, signal electric charge stored in a photoreceptor 11 is read out to a corresponding vertical shift register 12. This electric charge is trnsfered in a high speed to a vetical register 16 at a time t2. AT this time t2, the potential of the transfer gate is low-level, and the photoreceptor 11 and the register 12 are insulated from each other electrically. Consequently, signal charge is not leaked into registers 12 and 16 unless such light is irradiated at the time t2 that a photoelectric transducer is over-saturated. Electric charge trnsferred to the register 16 completely in this manner is transferred to a horizontal shift register 18 at times t3, t4 and 5 in parallel line by line and is taken out as a video signal from a detecting part 19 to the external.
