Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate the attachment and detachment of a cassette for recording paper, by providing a cam on the side of the cassette and providing a follow-up lever for moving down the push-up member of a paper supply rest at the time of insertion of the cassette, on the rest so that the lever follows up the movement of the cam.
CONSTITUTION: A paper feeder including cassettes 22 (22A, 22B) for different sizes of recording paper has a paper supply rest 23 provided with a push-up member 26, which is secured on a horizontal bar 25 energized clockwise by a tension spring 28 engaged on a link 27 and is protruded upward through an opening 36. The butt of a follow-up lever 30 provided with a follow-up roller 29 is pivotally connected at 31 to a side plate frame 24. A pin 32 on the middle part of the lever 30 is engaged in the slender hole 33 of the link 27. A cam 34, which cooperates with the follow- up roller 29, is provided on the outside of the cassette 22. As the cassette 22 is charged, the follow-up lever 30 is pushed down by the cam 34 to automatically retract the push-up member 36 downward.
