Abstract
PURPOSE: To omit picking and improve production efficiency by cold-rolling a hot rolled steel strip with an adhered oxidized film at limited rolling reduction and jetting underwater emulsion and thereby crushing and scattering the oxidized film.
CONSTITUTION: A hot rolled steel strip having adhered scales is sent out from a reel 1 and coated with rolling mill oil or underwater emulsion 5. Then, it is rolled by a rolling mill 2 at proper rolling reduction between 10% and 60% to crush scales. Next, high pressure water is jetted from upper and lower faces to scatter the scales and coiled by a reel 4. Further, if necessary, the rolling mill 2 is reversed to send out the steel strip 8 from which scales are removed. After applying rolling mill oil 6, the steel strip is rolled again by the rolling mill 2 and coiled by the reel 1.
