Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable winding of plural strips simultaneously at fixed tension by linking and stopping the both side drums out of plural winding drums to an intermediate drum by a clutch.
CONSTITUTION: Winding drums 14, 16, 18 attached to a winding shaft 12 are engaged with wedge 20, 22, 24. The winding drum 16 is driven directly by the winding drum 12 through a sleeve 40. The wedges 20, 24 of winding drums 14, 18 are connect ed with sleeves 48, 50 which are supported to the winding shaft 12 allowing free rotation through keys 53, 54, the sleeve 48 and sleeves 40, 50 are connected through an electromagnetic clutches 56, 56'. Accordingly, when the clutches 56, 56' are engaged completely, winding drums 14, 18 are driven together with the drum 16. By this mechanism, the strip can be wound always at fixed tension by releasing or connecting the clutches 56, 56' according to fluctuation of tension of the intermediate strip.
