Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the welding workability and joint performance of a titled electrode obtained by coating the specific composition coating material contg. SiO2, carbonate, metal fluoride and deoxidizing metal on a mild steel core, baking the same and controlling the bulk density of the coating material after the firing.
CONSTITUTION: A coating material contg. 3W8% SiO2, 30W60% carbonate, 0.5W 8% metal fluoride and 3W15% deoxidizing metal by weight % is coated on the outside circumference of a mild steel core. Thence, this is baked and the bulk density of the coating material after the firing controlled to 1.9W3.0g/cm3. If it is controlled to this bulk density range, the dislodging resistance of the coating material is improved considerably. As a result, the high speed welding adapting high current is made possible and the arc unstability, etc. occuring in the disoldging of the covering are eliminated; therefore, the welding efficiency and joint performance are improved.
