Abstract
PURPOSE: To display an excellent scale breaking effect, by giving plural different directions and angles upon the surface of steel sheet against the advancing direction of the steel sheet to roll axes of an apparatus provided with plural scale breaking rolls for giving a bending strain to the steel sheet.
CONSTITUTION: Plural segments fWf1', gWg1', hWh', iWi', laid upon the surface of a steel sheet 1 making respectively different angles θ1Wθ4 against the advancing direction X of the steel sheet 1, are taken as the roll axes of plural scale breaking rolls 13a, 13b, 13c and 13d. A steel sheet 1 running out of a hot rolling line is guided by a guide roll 2 and advances in the direction X; at first, the steel sheet 1 is bent by the roll 13a, and a crack parallel to the roll axis of the roll 13a is generated in the scale covering the sheet surface so that a part of the scale is peeled off. As the steel sheet 1 advances further, it is successively bent by the rolls 13b, 13c and 13d so that the scale generates cracks parallelly to each roll axis. By the present method, the scale is complicatedly segmented in small pieces so that an efficient scale breaking is attained.
