Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a wear resistant sintered alloy contg. MoS2 crystals dospersed in the matrix by molding iron powder contg. a specified amount of MoS2 and by sintering the molding at a low temp. in a vacuum.
CONSTITUTION: Iron powder contg. 0.5W20wt% MoS2 is molded and sintered at about 800°C in ≤10-1 Torr vacuum. <0.5% MoS2 content produces an insufficient effect, and >20% MoS2 content reduces the mechanical strength. MoS2 is not decomposed into Mo and FeS at about 800°C, and it is dispersed as crystals in the matrix. By further adding 0.1W5wt% graphite and/or 0.1W5wt% Sn, the wear resistance is enhanced furthermore.
