Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a vane pattern having a surface of revolution of a smooth and accurate shape as a flowing water surface by forming the surface of revolution on a blank material corresponding to one piece of vane by using gages, and cutting the surfaces of nonrevolution.
CONSTITUTION: A surface 2 of revolution is formed by manual finishing to a blank material 1 corresponding to one piece of vane, into a curved shape corresponding to the flowing water surface shape of the vane, by using gages 3, 4. Thence, unrequired parts are cut off from the material 1, and the end faces 6, 7 adjacent to the surface 2 are cut off by manual finishing. On the other hand, the end face 6 is cut to such a shape that a gage surface 8a slidingly contacts the end face 6 while changing its position when a gage 8 is rotated around an axis 9 corresponding to the axial center of a vane wheel, whereby it is formed into a shape corresponding to the shape of an eye side end face. The other end face 7 is cut similarly by a gage 10 and is formed into a shape corresponding to the shape of the boss side end face of the vane. Thence, the rear surface side of the material 1 is cut along the surface 2 by leaving prescribed wall thickness, whereby a vane pattern 11 having the surface 2 as a flowing water surface 11a is formed.
