Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the liquid level of a tank with a floating roof accurately by discharging a stored fluid in the gauge pole of the tank temporarily by using purging gas, by introducng the fluid again after exhausing the gas, and then by measuring its level. CONSTITUTION:Purging gas is blown into the gauge pole, whose top is made airtight, of a tank with a floating roof to discharge a fluid stored in it from a lower opening part, and after fluid near it is stirred uniformly, the gas is exhausted; and the fluid is introduced into the pole and its level is measured, thus detecting the liquid level of the tank. For example, the top of a hollow gauge pole 3 provided to prevent the floating roof of a tank 1 from turning is sealed with a gauge hatch 8, and purging gas is blown from an intake 10 through a primary valve 19 to discharge a stored fluid in the pole 3 from a lower release opening 17; after a fluid near it is stirred, a valve 11 is used to exhaust the gas, thus performing fluid measurement. The fluid in the pole 3 has the same level with a fluid in the tank without fail, so that the accurate measurement is performed.
