Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized, compact device while shortening analysis time greatly, by employing an energy dispersion detection signal for a component element and a detecting method, which uses a reflected electron, for cracking. CONSTITUTION:A large-sized steel sample 5 is placed in a device body 1, which is evacuated by a vacuum pump to a prescribed degree of vacuum. An electron beam from an electron gun is reduced in diameter by a beam control circuit to a 0.05-5mm. beam diameter and made to strike the sample 5. Characteristic X rays generated from the sample is divided, energy by energy, in an energy dispersion type X-ray detector 7 to measure the intensity of each energy, thereby finding the kind of an element from the energy and its quantity from the intensity. The intensity of a reflected electron, on the other hand, is found by a reflected-electron detector 8 to send unevenness information, for judging the cracking of the sample, to a minicomputer 21 together with element information. Consequently, the component sergregation of the large-sized steel sample is detected rapidly.
