Abstract
PURPOSE:To form an electrostatic latent image through polarization, by holding a high polarization potential in a dielectric layer by intense light rays, by irradiating a photosensitive layer with an optical image and then with light while applying a reverse electric field, and by extracting the polarization potential of the dielectric layer. CONSTITUTION:The part, right under the corona discharger 6 generating positive charge where its electric field operates, of a photoreceptor 1 is turned to irradiate the photoreceptor 1 with light from a lamp 7 at the same time in the electric-field region of the discharger 6, and consequently while a photosensitive layer 2 becomes conductive, a dielectric layer 3 is polarized by the electric field to generate positive charge on the surface of the discharger 6 side and negative charge at a part close to the photosensitive layer 2 side by polarization. Then, while an electric field reverse of the said field is applied, irradiation with an optical image 8' is performed. The potential of the photosensitive layer 2 in a polarization state is erased by irradiation with light rays 11 from a lamp 10. Consequently, the polarization potential of the dielectric layer 3 is extracted after the 3rd process.
