Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a compressor light weight and compact and to improve its volume efficiency by making either one or both of a fixed scroll member and a turning scroll member with a ceramic material having a specific gravity lower than metals and a thermal expansion coefficient within the specified value. CONSTITUTION:Either one or both of a fixed scroll member 1 and a turning scroll member 2 are made of a ceramic material having a specific gravity lower than metals and a thermal expansion coefficient (linear expansion coefficient) within the range of 6X10<-6>-18X10<-6>/ deg.C thereby making the compressor light weight and compact and also improving the volume efficiency through the prevention of re-heating because of lower thermal conductivity of the ceramic material. The reverse rotation of the compressor can be prevented by providing a check valve 16 at the discharge port of the fixed scroll member 1 thereby improving the reliability of the bearing preventing also the abnormal vibration, noise and the like at the time of the reverse rotation.
