Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable simple preparation of a ribbon-like magnet which has high performance and extremely thin structure by a method wherein a melted alloy material having a composition for constituting the magnet is jetted on to a moving surface which moves at a high speed, cooled rapidly and rolled while being moved through a magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:The alloy material 11 having a composition for constituting the ''Alnico '' magnet is melted by heating in a heating vessel 10 and the alloy material 11 thus melted is jetted onto the surface of a roll 13 rotating at a high speed from a nozzle part 10b under the pressure of inert gas such as argon gas. The jetted material is cooled rapidly on the surface of the roll 13 and, while being sent forcedly in the tangential direction by the centrifugal force of the roll 13, is rolled into a thin ribbon-like plate 15. Before the thin plate 15 is cooled completely, a required magnetic field is applied to the thin plate 15 in the direction of the thickness thereof by an electromagnet 14 in a place as near as possible to the surface of the roll 13. Thereby the direction of domains within the thin plate 15 is aligned and thus the anisotropic thin ribbon-like ''Alnico '' magnet is obtained.
