CONSTITUTION:Magnetic paint is prepared by dispersing 0.1-10wt% (basing on metallic magnetic powder consisting essentially of metallic iron) solid particles (PbO, ZnO, Cu2O, WO3, MoO3, CaF2, BN, etc.) having a Mohs' hardness lower than Mohs' hardness of metallic iron, that is to say, 4.5, in a solution of a resin binder together with the metallic magnetic powder and adding an additive such as dispersant or lubricant, if necessary. This magnetic paint is applied on the substrate of polyester film, etc. and is dried, by which a magnetic layer of about 5mu is formed. In this way, it is possible to obtain a metallic tape for high density recording, by which a magnetic head made of sendust is scarcely worn out.
