Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize a long lifetime for a matrix type liquid crystal display matter in which electrode driving the liquid crystal and a selecting active element are provided independently for each picture element, and forming an insulated layer on said electrode.
CONSTITUTION: A matrix type liquid crystal display matter is formed by holding a liquid crystal 55 between a glass substrate 51 containing a common electrode 53 and a glass substrate 52 containing plural dot type picture element electrodes 54. For such display matter, an insulted film 56 made of SiO2, etc. in 2,000ÅW2μ thickness is provided on the electrode 53. Accordingly a common electrode 41 (i.d., 53) is connected to a fixed potential terminal 42 via a capacitor 43. The capacity of the capacitor 43 is set about 10 times as much as the capacity between the display matter electrodes. And the film 56 is also provided at the side of the picture element electrode.
