Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent damage at a high temperature and improve a response speed by a method wherein a protective tube in which magnesium oxide is filled and a thermocouple element is sealed is applied to a drawing machine and its diameter is drawn down, so that the air inside is eliminated. CONSTITUTION:Solid powder of magnesium oxide which has high melting point is filled in a protective tube 1 made of a material such as SuS-304 or INCONEL as an insulating material and a thermocouple 3 is sealed in the tube 1. The protective tube 1 is then applied to a drawing machine and its diameter is drawn down to 5-15% smaller. Thus the air in the protective tube 1 is eliminated and the protective tube 1 has a tight thermal contact with the thermocouple element 3 by the magnesisum oxide. With above configuration, a quick response thermocouple which has high mechanical strength at a high temperature and has excellent heat resistivity, corrosion resistivity and long performance life can be obtained.
