Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently separate CaSiF6 from the resulting gypsum by adding SiO2 to waste sulfuric acid to convert contained F into H2SiF6 and further adding a Ca- contg. alkali agent to convert the H2SiF6 into CaSiF6.
CONSTITUTION: By sulfurization or other method As is removed from waste sulfuric acid discharged from a process of scrubbing gaseous SO2 and contg. 3W10g/l F as well as 100W300g/l sulfuric acid in general. By adding a substance contg. an SiO2 source such as silica to the As-free waste acid, the contained F is converted into H2SiF6, and the waste acid is fed to a process of manufacturing gypsum. In the process a Ca-contg. alkali agent such as CaCO3 is added to form CaSiF6 with high solubility as well as to deposit gypsum. The deposited gypsum is settled, separated, centrifugally separated, and recovered as product gypsum contg. no F. On the other hand, by adding an Na-contg. additive, H2SiF6 in the filtrate is converted into Na2SiF6, which is then separated and recovered as crystals.
