Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a thermoplastic elastomer which can form, with good processability, moldings excellent in abrasion resistance and rubber elasticity, by reacting a polyisocyanate with a specified copolyester.
CONSTITUTION: Use is made of a copolymer in which most of the molecules have hydroxyl groups at both terminals, prepared by reacting terephthalic acid (alkyl ester), 1,4-butanediol and polytetramethylene glycol, MW about 400W4,000, having physical properties: MW of 3,000W22,000, OH value of 40W5, intrinsic viscosity of 0.2W0.6dl/g as measured at 30°C in a solvent mixture (6:4 by weight) of phenol and tetrachloroethane. That is, the above polyester and a polyisocyanate are reacted at a hydroxyl group/isocyanato group ratio of 1:0.7W1.5 (by eq.).
