Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent false detection by detecting jam in a conveyance system of an automatic original feeder by means of the output of a jam detector provided in said system and the timing signal on the body side. CONSTITUTION:A reset pulse RP and a timing signal TP are obtained by a timing disc coupled directly to the revolving shaft of a photosensitive drum, and the microcomputer of a control system executes various copying processings at the respective timings of the timing signal with the reset pulse as a reference. A jam detecting switch provided in the discharge part within the automatic original feeder is on during the prescribed period when an original passes. Thereupon, the on check is carried out at the timing T2 of the timing signal and off check at T6, and if the detecting switch is on at the point of the time of T6, it is decided that there is jam.
