Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the occurrence of paper jam, by providing a paper detector near a paper feed roller and confirming no operation of the paper detector after the paper feed signal is delivered. CONSTITUTION:When a copy button is pushed, an original board shifts to turn on a paper feed switch provided on the travelling path of the original board. Thus a paper feed signal is delivered to actuate a paper feed roller 5, and as a result the copy paper is sent out. At the same time, a timer works. If the paper is sent out in the normal way, a paper detection layer is pushed up to send the paper into a paper detector 13. Thus the optical path of a light emitting diode is disturbed, and the paper is detected. In case the detector has no operation although a timer has counted a prescribed period of time, the occurrence of paper jam is decided. Then an alarm lamp is lit up.
