Abstract

PURPOSE: To trap fat and oil contents of smoke and prevent oil smoke from flowing out to a duct side in the case of abnormally high temperature by a method wherein tubular bodies in the form of truncated pyramids are placed in a casing in multiple stages to form gaps for passage, and a means for opening and closing the gaps by moving the tubular bodies of upper and lower stages is provided.
CONSTITUTION: An oil smoke sucked-in through an inlet port 9 is compressed by slanted inside surfaces of the truncated pyramid shaped tubular body 11 at the lowermost stage, then it is released from compression at an upper part of the body 11, and part of it is diffused into the interior of the casing 8 through the gap 13, while the remainder flows upwardly into the tubular body 11 at the second stage. Thus, the oil smoke is subjected to compression and release repeatedly in a multi-stage manner, whereby the fat and oil contents in the smoke are trapped at the inside and outside surfaces of the tubular bodies 11. The smoke diffused in the interior of the casing 8 is rectified by rectifying plates 18 and flows upwardly to reach an outer port 10. When an abnormally high temperature due to a fire is detected by a detector 22, an operating mechanism 27 is operated to simultaneously retract holders 25 provided at each stage, so that the tubular bodies 11 at each stage fall to close the gaps 13, thereby preventing the oily smoke from flowing in the direction from the inlet port 9 to the outlet port 10.
