Abstract

PURPOSE: To completely treat offensive odor gases and to make easier the operation of deodorization and the maintenance and control of apparatus and treating agent by a method in which offensive odor pases, e.g., H2S, etc., are treated orderly by oxidation with chlorine gas, washing with an alkali, and adsorption with activated carbon, and the alkali washing waste water is used for the regeneration of the activated carbon.
CONSTITUTION: An offsensively odorous gas 1 is mixed with chlorine 2 to oxidize SOx other than H2S in gas phase, treated with an alkali washing liquid 4 to absorb unremoved H2S in a washing tower 3, and then treated with activated carbon to adsorb and remove unreacted chlorine to form completely deodorized treated gas 9. On the other hand, the alkali washing waste water 5 is stored in a waste liquid storage tank 6 and then supplied to an adsorption tower 7, as needed, when the treatment with activated carbon is stopped in order to wash the activated carbon 8.
