Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the processing time of the whole processor by inhibiting unnecessary processing from being performed when a reset key is operated, by discriminating whether a clear signal for the processor is generated by turning on a power source or by operating the reset key. CONSTITUTION:Only when a power switch SPW and a reset key SRES are pushed, a low-level signal is outputted from detecting circuits PC and KRES, respectively. When the low-level signal is supplied to one or both inputs of an AND gate AG, it outputs a low-level clear signal for the whole processor. When the processor is cleared by putting the power source to work, the set terminal of an FF.CF is held at a low level and its output goes up to a high level; and that is discriminated by a control part MPU through an interface IF and necessary data is read out of an external storage device EM. With the reset key SRES pushed, the output of the FF.CF is held at the low level, so the operation of the processor is enabled immediately without performing processing to the device EM, thus shortening the processing time.
