Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A benzamide derivative of the formula (R1 is H, alkyl, allyl; R2 is alkyl, allyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylthiocarbonyl, alkylcarbonyl).
EXAMPLE: 4-Ethylamino-N-(2,3-dichlorophenyl)-benzamide.
USE: High-selectivity herbicide: it inhibits the germination and growth of weeds, especially shows the effect of controlling grass weeds by soil treatment under flooded condition and also controlling the growth of broad leaf weeds. If has almost no injury to transplanted rice plant.
PREPARATION: The reaction between general benzoic ester and 2,3-dichloroaniline is conducted in an organic solvent such as DMSO in the presence of a basic substance to produce the compound of the formula where R2 is alkyl, allyl, alkylcarbonyl.
