Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A bromodifluoromethyl sulfide expressed by the formula R-SCF2Br (R is substituted or unsabstituted alkyl or aromatic group).
EXAMPLE: Bromodifluoromethylthiododecane.
USE: A synthetic raw material for trifluoromethyl sulfides exhibiting various physiological activities.
PREPARATION: A mercaptan expressed by the formula RSH is reacted with a bormodifluoromethane derivative expressed by the formula F2CBrX (X is Cl or Br) to give the aimed compound expressed by the formula R-SCF2Br. The reaction is carried out in the presence of a base, e.g. sodium hydride in an aprotic solvent, e.g. 1,2-diethoxymethane, at -80W +50°C, preferably -70°CWroom temperature.
