Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable stepless and smooth grinding of even a concave surface curving at a sharp angle, by a method wherein a beltlike grinding cloth sheet, in which a large number of undercuts, formed in an advance direction toward a central part from a side end, is adhered to a contact wheel.
CONSTITUTION: A grinding cloth sheet 9 is adhered to a central part 9a of a constant wheel 7 ranging its whole circumference. A large number of undercuts, which tilt in the advance direction of the cloth sheet 9 toward the central part 9a from the side end, are formed at given intervals in the opposite sides of the grinding cloth sheet 9 which are free from the wheel 7. In case a U-recess 6 is ground in a work piece 3, a contact wheel 7', which has a width of its outer circumference part being narrower than that of the recess 6, is pressed against the recess 6. In this case, the opposite sides of the grinding cloth sheet 9, adhered to the whole outer circumference surface of the contact wheel 7' and at its central part, are bent along the inner surface of the U-shaped recess 6, and is pressed against a surface 6 to be ground through the centrifugal force. This permits the uniform grinding of the whole surface of the recess 6.
