Abstract
PURPOSE: To smoothly liquefy brown coal with a good thermal efficiency by crushing raw brown coal after nondistilling dehydration and preheating a slurry formed by mixing and agitating the crushed coal and a solvent, together with H2, followed by destructive extraction.
CONSTITUTION: Raw brown coal is sized by screening with screen 1, blending with coal obtained by crushing coarse coal with crusher 3 and then separating from fine particles by screen 2. The sized brown coal is separated from moisture by heating under a high pressure with steam or hot water in nondistilling dehydrator 4, to prepare dehydrated brown coal, which is crushed with crusher 5 and agitated together with a solvent in slurry preparing vessel 6, to form a brown coal-solvent slurry. The slurry is preheated together with H210 in preheater 8 and then subjected to destructive extraction in reaction column 11. After the slurry produced is separated from a gas in a gas-liquid separator, it is introduced into atmospheric distillation column 13, in which it is separated from naphtha 14 and fuel oil 15, and bottom oil 16 obtd. is separated into fuel oil 18 and heavy oil 20 in vacuum distillation colum 17. Part of a distillate such as said fuel oil 18 or naphtha 14 is pref. recycled as slurry-forming solvent 24.
