Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the constitution of detector mechanism during power steering by providing a switching action to a ball joint connects a power steering to a steering wheel.
CONSTITUTION: A steering wheel 1 is connected to unillustrated wheels through a power cylinder 8 driven by the oil pressure of an oil pump not illustrated in this figure, internal ball joint 9, a side rod 10, and an outer ball joint 11. The inner joint 9 consists of a conductive ball 19, an insulation ball seat 17 which constantly c ontacts the ball 9, and a conductive rack 6 which supports the seat 17 at a hollow place 6 and which can contact the ball 19. During power steering operation, the ball 19 moves forward by a steering reaction force and contacts the rack 6. This constitution allows electric current to flow and opens a throttle valve by an actuator not illustrated in the figure.
