Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent wrinkling and jamming of a transfer paper perfectly, by providing nonimaging regions, forming no toner image, on both the front and rear ends of the transfer paper. CONSTITUTION:A photosensor S2 detects the front end of a transfer paper and a timer T1 turns on a charger 18 through a flip-flop FF and high voltage generators P, P after a time t1 and starts charging. The photosensor S2 detects the rear end of the paper and at that time the timer T2 resets the flip-flop FF after a time t2 to turn off the charger 18. These times t1, t2 of the timers T1, T2 are regulated to t1>t2, thus permitting the operation time of the charger 18 to become a remainder obtained by subtracting t1-t2 from the time of detecting the paper, therefore, the front and rear ends of the transfer paper of a length corresponding to this value to become whited out or nonimaged parts, and wrinkling and jamming of the paper to be prevented.
