Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the dark current component to be detected with high accuracy, and to carry out rational manufacture of an image pickup tube by providing optical blacks on a transparent inorganic layer surface formed on a color resolution filter through continuous sputtering or the like, and forming a transparent electrode and a photoconductive film over the optical blacks. CONSTITUTION:A transparent inorganic layer 17 is formed on a color resolution filter, which consists of a transparent base plate 1, a color separation filter layer 2 and an organic smooth layer 16. A metal film 20B' is formed on the layer 17 through continuous sputtering, or a continuous vapor-deposition method etc. without taking it out into the atmosphere. After the film 20B' formed over the base plate 1 is taken out of a device in which the film 20B' is formed, etching is performed on the film 20B', thereby optical blacks 20B being provided. Following that, a transparent electrode 4 and a photoconductive film 7 are formed over the optical blacks 20B, thus an image pickup tube is obtained. Owing to the above constitution, the optical blacks 20B are made to approach the electrode 4, and adherence of any water, dust or the like existing in the atmosphere is prevented. Consequently, the dark current component 15 can be detected with high accuracy, and the image pickup tube can be manufacture rationally.
