Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the variation in pressure at the tip part of tuyere as well as interrupt the back flow of molten metal to the tuyere by a method in which the opening degrees of flow regulating valve for afterward gas and the pressures of forward and after ward gases are controlled under fixed conditions and the switching of the gases is made by controlling the pressure. CONSTITUTION:Gases supply pipes 5 and 5' through which gases from forward gas source 4 (gas A) and afterward gas source 4' (gas B) are supplied to a bottom blowing tuyere 3 are provided with gas pressure gauges 6 and 6', gas flow meters 7 and 7', gas flow regulating valves 8 and 8', stop valves 9 and 9', and check valves 10 and 10'. When switching gas A to gas B, pressure before the tuyere 3 and the opening degree of the flow regulating valve 8' for gas B are controlled to specified value for afterward status by a controller 1 and gas B being pressurized is confirmed. Afterwards, the stop valve 9' for gas B is opened. Then, the stop valve 9 for gas A is closed to complete the switching work. Thus, the variation in pressure before the tuyere 3 can be prevented when the switching work is made.
