Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the work of manufacturing a curved type field coil by inserting a tapered opening type dies into a hollow part when a field coil formed by winding a flat conductor in a plurality of turns is pressed to a bent shape, then expanding the raised surface side and thus eliminating the spring back after pressing.
CONSTITUTION: A flat conductor A is turned approximately in a rectangular shape to form a preliminary field coil unit 10A, which is then interposed between pressing dies 11 and 12 formed in bent surfaces. An opening die 15 having a tapered step 14 is inserted into the central cavity 13 of the unit 10A at the recess pressing die 12. Then, the dies 11 and 12 are vertically pressed from above and below, a pressing die 17 is pressed from the outer periphery to strongly press it, amd a field coil unit 10B expanded at the central cavity 13 toward the raised bent unit side. Since large plastic deformation occurs at the corner of the unit 10B in this manner, it can prevent the spring back after pressing.
