Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a thermal head which can preferably contact a coloring paper of heating resistor, can response at a high speed and at low cost by providing the heating resistor on a thermally conductive base end face through a thermally nonconductive layer of special shape formed by printing. CONSTITUTION:A thermally nonconductive layer (e.g., glass or the like) 8 of semicircular section is provided by a screen printing or the like on the end face of a thermally conductive base 7 formed of alumina ceramics or the like. Then, a heating resistor 3 and an electrode 4 connected to the resistor 3 are provided, and a wear resistant layer 9 is formed thereon, thereby constructing the thermal head for the above purpose. EFFECT:Concentrated arrangement of electrodes at a side part of the base become possible, thereby eliminating the process of mounting electrodes at both sides of the base.
