Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the recovering rate by primarily recovering Pt group metals supported as catalyst components, converting the aluminous carrier with the stuck residual catalyst into α-alumina at a prescribed temp., and carrying out secondary recovery with inorg. acid.
CONSTITUTION: A catalyst prepared by supporting Pt group metals such as Rh, Pt and Pd on an aluminous carrier is reduced after use and dissolved in inorg. acid to primarily recover the Pt group metals. The catalyst is then calcined at ≥1,100°C in air to convert alumina as the carrier into α-alumina, and the residual Pt and Pd are extracted with similar org. acid and secondarily recovered. By this method Rh, Pt and Pd are recovered in high yields without bonding to alumina.
