Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the execution time of a training system, by using a modulation signal including an impulse train required for the convergence of an automatic equalizer as an initial training signal. CONSTITUTION:After the transmission of a transmission request from a terminal 1 to an MODEM3 via an MODEM2, a training signal is transmitted from the terminal 1 so that data can be received to the MODEM3 via a line 4 surely. The MODEM3 receives the training signal and sets up an automatic equalizer, an AGC circuit and a synchronizing circuit and the like. The training sequence is executed by sequentially receiving the training signal of 4' from a segment 1'. The segment 1' is only carrier, the segment 2' is a signal alternately repeating zero and pi phase, the segment 3' is a modulation signal including an impulse train required for the convergence of the automatic equalizer and consists of subsegments 3'-1, 3'-3 the same as the segment 2 and a subsegment 3'-2 for a signal in which the repetition of zero and pi phase is intermittent for one symbol time. A segment 4' is only a PN signal.
