Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compounds useful as a germicide, etc. major members thereof being novel, by methylating the hydroxy group at 5-position of 5-de-O-methyl-5-epi-KA-6606 VI with its amino group protected, removing optionally the amino-protecting group.
CONSTITUTION: A compound shown by the formulaIwith its amino group protected is reacted with a methylating agent in a solvent occasionally in the presence of a catalyst so that the hydroxy group at 5-position is methlated. If necessary, the amino-protecting group of the reaction product is removed, the methylamino group at 4 position is aminoacylated, the aminoacyl group is reduced, and/or converted into an acid addition salt to give a compound shown by the formula II (R is H, aminoacyl, or aminoalkyl; the amino group may be protected); a group of compounds and their acid addition salts are thus obtd. these compounds are novel except when R is H and the amino group at 1-position and the saccharide residue at 2-position from trans coordination.
