Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the running force of a hand rail accurately and readily without damaging the decorative surface of the hand rail, by a method wherein a pair of press-holders is provided along a curved surface of a hand rail and tractive force by which the support is hauled is measured through the press- holder. CONSTITUTION:A pair of press-holders 11 is provided with its length along the running direction of a hand rail 3 and with curved surfaces along the curved surface of the hand rail 3. As this curved surfaces undergo friction severely with the hand rail 3, they are formed by adhering soft and elastic materials. Further, a pair of press-holder 11 is supported monoblocly by a plurality of guides 12 so as to hold the hand rail 3 by the curved surfaces from the both sides. Then, the running force of the hand rail 3 is measured by utilizing a stick-shaped spring balance 14 provided in the reverse direction to the running direction, which indicates the tractive force needed for stopping the hand rail 3 while running.

A passenger conveyor is a highly efficient means of transporting people that uses an endless series of steps that are electrically driven.Generally, when using a passenger conveyor, one must grasp the handrails and keep one's body balanced as one steps up to the steps. For safety reasons, the Building Standards Act stipulates that the speed of the steps and the rail should be the same, and the JIS also stipulates that the speed of the step and rail should be the same for safety reasons.
This specifies the amount of force required in the counter-travel direction to stop the rail. For this reason, appropriate tension is always applied to the no-ndrail.

Next, a conventional handrail running force measuring method will be explained. The first method, as shown in FIG. 2, is to grasp the handrail 3 with your hand and measure it by feeling it being pulled and held in the opposite direction of travel, but this method is subject to individual differences, and
Lacking reliability. The second method is as shown in Figure 3.
In this method, a force is applied to the curved surface of the rail 3 through a clamping element 9 using a supporter 7 and a torque wrench 8, and the running force is measured via the clamping element 9. However, since this method uses rollers as the clamping elements 9, there is a possibility that the clamping force may locally deform the handrail 3 or leave impressions on the surface of the handrail 3.
It has the disadvantage of ruining the design.

FIG. 7 is a diagram of the principle of FIG. 5. If the clamping force is f, the running force is F, and the counter-running force is F', then F=F'=2μf
(1) Here, the relationship μ: coefficient of friction between the handrail 3 and the clamping element 11 is established. Therefore, when the clamping element 11 is crimped onto the handrail 3, the coefficient of friction of the elastic member used on the surface of the clamping element 11 in contact with the clamping rail 3 with respect to the clamping rail 3 is If it is large, the clamping force f can be made small. In addition, by increasing the contact area of the clamping element 11 with the nozzle rail 3, the f per unit area becomes smaller, and the deformation of the nozzle rail 3 can be minimized. Moreover, sufficient frictional force can withstand the traction force. can be obtained.

From this, the guide rail 1 on the inner surface of the handrail 3
Even if the pressing force on the surface of the handrail 3 is small, as long as the contact area of the clamping element 11 with the curved part of the handrail 3 is large, the gap between the surface of the handrail 3 and the clamping element 11 can be maintained without leaving any impressions on the surface of the handrail 3. The running force of the handrail 3 can be measured by the frictional force.

FIG. 11 is a perspective view showing another embodiment of the indenter 11 shown in FIGS. 5 and 8, and FIG. 12 is a sectional view taken along the line ■-V in FIG.
FIG. 13 is a partially enlarged view of FIG. 12. In FIG. 11, a low-friction member 20 having a plurality of missing portions 20a is disposed on the surface of the high-friction elastic member 9a on the surface of the presser 11 that contacts the handrail 3. In this case, when the clamping element 11 is not receiving pressure, the relationship between the high friction elastic member 11a and the low friction member 20 is as shown in FIGS. 12(a) and 13(a).
In this state, the high-friction elastic member 11a is sunk below the surface of the low-friction member 20 at the missing portion 20a, so the clamping element 11 can easily slide along the handrail 3. can be set. On the other hand, when the clamping element 11 is under pressure, the above relationship is as shown in FIGS. 12('b) and 13(b), and in this state, the clamping element 11 Because the high friction elastic member iia is pushed out from the missing portion 20a of the low friction member 20 due to the pressure on the rail 3, the high friction elastic member 11
a and the handrail 3 come into contact and generate a large frictional force,
Thereby, the handrail 3 can be grasped in the same way as in FIGS. 5 and 8.
