Abstract

PURPOSE:To couple an optical semiconductor and optical fiber at low cost without having a special jig or tool by a method wherein the optical fiber and the optical semiconductor are coupled using a rubber tube and a heat-shrinkable tube. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 1 is placed in a rubber fuse 2, on the outside of which, the heat-shrinkable tube 3 is covered, and the optical semiconductor 4 of optional shape is placed in the tube 3. Then, the tube 3 is shrinked by heating, the optical semiconductor 4 is fixed, and at the same time, the optical fiber 1 is fixed by applying pressure on the tube 2. Accordingly, no special jig or tool is needed, and the coupling of the optical fiber 1 and the optical semiconductor can be performed at low cost.
