Abstract

PURPOSE:To form colored rust preventive films having high surface hardness and high decorative value on iron and steel products by immersing said products which are cleaned of surfaces into a treating soln. contg. caustic alkali, sodium phosphate, sodium nitrate, iron powder and salts of tin and lead and heating the same. CONSTITUTION:After iron and steel products are degreased and washed, the products are immersed in a treating soln. having the following compsn. A soln. contg. 0.5-10wt% (in terms of phosphorous pentoxide) phosphorus pentoxide or sodium phosphate, 5-15wt% sodium nitrite, 3-8wt% sodium nitrate, metallic iron powder and sodium stannate, lead peroxide, etc. in a caustic alkali soln. contg. 40-55wt% caustic soda, etc. is used as a treating soln. and is heated to temp. near the boiling point of the caustic alkali soln. The colored rust preventive films having high hardness and beautiful decorative value are formed on the surfaces of the iron and steel products.

Special Publication No. 46-2684 as a rust-preventive coloring method for conventional steel products
There is an invention No. 3 (hereinafter referred to as the prior patented invention), but the present invention relates to a method for improving the prior patented invention. As a result of the inventor's intensive research to improve the prior patented invention, the present invention is coated with a colored anti-rust coating. In the manufacturing method of steel and products, the reaction of the right color anti-tuna treatment on the surface of steel products is accelerated more quickly than in the prior patent light January, and the formation of triiron tetroxide film is faster and beautifully colored. The present invention has been completed, which has various effects such as a greater rust prevention effect because the 111 triiron tetroxide coating is homogeneous and has good adhesion. The washed steel products are mixed with 40 to 55% by weight of a caustic alkali, preferably caustic soda or caustic potash solution, and 0.5 to 10% of phosphorus pentoxide or sodium phosphate (calculated as phosphorus pentoxide) and/or 5% nitrous acid. Caustic alkali used by immersing it in a treatment solution containing ~15% vehicle weight, 3~8% nitric acid, and metal iron, preferably powdered metal iron, tin salts and lead salts as main components. The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a steel product coated with a colored anti-corrosion coating produced by heating the solution to a temperature close to 60 points and applying a colored anti-rust treatment to the surface of the steel product.

The processing temperature is determined by the boiling point temperature depending on the concentration of the caustic soda used, and in the case of a 45% caustic nog solution, the temperature is about 140°C, so if the processing temperature is around 140"C, the processing time should be at least 6 minutes. It is preferable to incubate for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Moreover, since the added tin salt coats the non-metallic parts of the surface of the steel product in the form of a film, the anti-d effect is even greater, and the film is denser, harder, more beautiful than ever before, and has great decorative value. The same is true if caustic potash is used instead of caustic soda.

The present invention uses metallic iron, preferably iron powder, in the treatment liquid, uses phosphorus pentoxide or sodium phosphate without using sodium nitrite or sodium nitrate, and also uses nitrite in addition to phosphorus pentoxide or sodium phosphate. When soda or sodium nitrate is used in combination, there is an advantage that the amount of added phosphorus pentoxide or sodium phosphate can be reduced.
